Thinking of Sunshine
I’m thinking of sunshine and flowers, while our first blizzard hits. Yesterday our yard was a healthy green. Today it wears a blanket of snow, but it’s pretty too.
The first image is the under painting, and the second is the finished work. 8″x10″ acrylic on canvas board.
Pink Peony
I approached this picture by loading the brush as much as I dare and with the least amount of strokes. Although I did go over the background again to get the textures.
I’m going to experiment with more like these.
Painting Flowers for My Mom
Happy Mother’s Day!
I usually get spring potted flower’s for my Mom for Mother’s Day, but this time I thought I would paint some that don’t need to be watered, and will last beyond the season.

I’m enjoying Spring and the flowers it brings! It doesn’t hurt to use up the Reds that I mixed either! I hope your able to stop and smell the flowers!
Painting Makeover 02
AFTER
This palette knife painting represents a rose from memory. In the BEFORE version I was satisfied with the composition, but not the colors I don’t know why I use the dull brown. Anyway, I looked at it today by chance, and thought I want to fix this. The texture has a bit different effect covering over the top of existing texture but I’m glad I went for it! I may try this again from scratch sometime.

Spring Brings Begonias
On my easel today is a painting of Begonias, stirred into action by the Spring fever I’m feeling. 6″x6″ stretch Gallery Wrap Canvas.
One thing I look forward to every Spring is my first trip to Medary Acres, our local Nursery. This is where I went looking for my subject.
Posing with my subject is a persistent Merlin the Cat. I’ve just decided he should be the star of a new painting, coming soon!
Yellow Rose (Final)
I made some shading adjustments in the bottom petals. Changed the shape of the petal to the far right to be more pleasing, eventhough that’s not how it looked. Adjusted the color in the background to be warmer, and not distract from the rose. Oil Pastels on 8×10″ hardboard.
Yellow Rose in Pastel (WIP)
Nearly finished, I have a few adjustments to make. Now that I have gotten more adapted to using this surface I like it, and I like the smooth look. Still, I want to try something with more tooth to see if I like it better, although i think smooth is a benefit for a rose. I have found that blending the first layer of Neopastels with a blending stump, and then going over it with the softer Sennelier Oil Pastels gets the best results. Oil Pastel on Sanded Masonite 8×10″
