I will be doing more sunrises now because I have a new place on the other side of Lake Michigan! The weather has been lovely, not very hot. There is nothing like the natural air conditioning of Lake Michigan!

Artist Statement
My husband Dave loved to watch the sunset over Lake Michigan. For over 30 years we returned to the lake in the summer, and watched in awe of the dramatic sky and peaceful rhythm of the waves. This time would be the last. The following winter, he passed away just before the pandemic took hold. While sheltering in place, it brought me peace to paint the bold color and fleeting light of time passing, remembering Dave’s life well lived.

This painting won a purchasing award from McCullough Hyde Hospital.
Lake Michigan Sunset
I saw a fabulous sunset this summer on our trip to Michigan. I had to paint it! I’ve rarely painted anything like this. I want to paint a bigger one, this one is 9×12” on canvas board. I sold the painting on Facebook to an old friend who grew up appreciating the Lake Michigan Sunset.
