I have been creating larger life drawings, I’ve always preferred larger scale. This is 18″x24″ on Tan Strathmore paper with oil pastel. I like to use oil pastel now because it’s not as fragile as soft pastel, and I’m doing them in sketch book form.
This is a study for a mural of heaven, I’m painting for St. Thomas More Parish. The mural will be painted with acrylics 8.5’x 24.5′. The study is 8.5″x 24″. I will be posting more images as it progresses. I’m considering recording a time lapse of the mural being painted.
A close up of the left half.
Drawing hands and feet has gotten easier. Drawing the bottom of feet is more interesting.
On Tuesday nights I meet with a group of artists to draw from a live model. Often the highlight of my weekdays. I tried conte crayons for the first time, it’s a hard pastel. I’ve done very little pastel, I am a painter, but I wish I would have thought of trying it sooner for this purpose. I like the immediacy of this medium. 24×18″ on brown paper, finished piece.
