Prairie Thunderhead 12”x16” Acrylic on Canvas

Prairie Pond 6×12” Acrylic on Canvas
Painted at the Ingalls Hometead in DeSmet SD for a Plein Air Outing
8×10” acrylic and canvas panel.
It was cloudy and still but what we see is just a starting point. Sometimes unexpected result come from Plein Air painting. This photo shows how I embellished the scene. Mainly I added a field beyond the horizon for more interest, more elements that are simplified in the foreground. I waited for a sky I wanted to paint, I normally do that first.
This summer I’ve been in transition, moving from South Dakota to the Cincinnati area. I have since completeted the move and I want to recap on my blog what I managed to squeeze in my last summer in South Dakota. This is a painting I did at a Paint Out in Oakwood State Park. Acrylic on a Canvas Panel, 8″x10″.
These are the wonderful people who participated at the Plein Air Outing. I miss you all!
Hot off the easel! “Prairie Fields” 8×10″ Canvas Board Dreaming about beautiful sunny days, and freezing my behind!
This is reality! 😀
I felt like doing another painting of snow covered hay bales, and make it bigger but still small. I’m gettting warmed up right now from after my hiatus, and that makes it time for exploration. This way I can do more quicker.
“Frosted Flakes #2″ 8×10” Canvas Board
I enjoy making pictures with Hay Bails, but I have never painted them covered in snow.
“Frosted Wheats #1″ 5×7” Canvas Board
First of a of few paintings for Christmas sales.
“Rolling Up the Carpet #11″ 5×7” Canvas Board
It’s a good day to remember summer days. Tomorrow we will have a high of -7. I think will paint a snow scene next though. I won’t be painting it outside!
Thunderhead Over Rolling Plains, 12″x24″ stretched canvas.
“Valley of Enemy Creek” 30″x48″ Stretched Canvas
Although I will probably see little touches of strokes I want to add, I am finished, fin! Although I need to sign and paint the gallery edges which are 1.5″ depth.
Time to open a bottle of wine! Cheers!
